These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the website biterated.com and the services provided through it (together, the "Service"), operated by BiteRated. By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.

2. The Service

BiteRated is an independent dog food scoring platform that analyzes ingredients in commercial dog food products and publishes quality scores based on a published, openly documented methodology. Scores reflect our analysis of publicly available product information against documented criteria grounded in peer-reviewed canine nutrition science and AAFCO and NRC standards.

3. Not veterinary advice

The Service provides general informational content only. BiteRated scores, articles, and other content are not veterinary advice, diagnosis, or treatment, and are not a substitute for consultation with a qualified veterinarian. Always seek professional advice regarding your dog's specific health and dietary needs.

4. Using the Service

The Service does not currently require an account — scores and methodology documentation are open to everyone. If you contact us or ask to be notified at launch, you agree to provide accurate information. Should we introduce optional accounts in the future, additional terms will apply and will be published here before they take effect.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms
• Scrape, harvest, or systematically extract data from the Service without our prior written consent
• Misrepresent BiteRated scores, present them out of context, or imply brand endorsement by BiteRated
• Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Service or its systems
• Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service

6. Intellectual property

The Service and its content — including scores, methodology documentation, text, graphics, logos, and software — are owned by BiteRated or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. You may reference individual scores for personal, non-commercial purposes with attribution to BiteRated. Any commercial use requires our prior written permission.

7. Accuracy of information

We work hard to keep scores accurate and current, and we update them when formulations change. However, manufacturers may change formulations without notice, and we cannot guarantee that all information is complete, accurate, or up to date at all times. If you find an error, please report it via the contact page.

8. Disclaimers

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Scores represent our independent analysis and opinion based on documented criteria.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, BiteRated shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or relating to your use of the Service. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.

10. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time if you breach these Terms. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitation of liability) will survive.

11. Changes to these Terms

We may revise these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be notified via the Service or by email. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Spain and applicable European Union law, and the courts of Spain shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them, subject to any mandatory consumer protections available in your country of residence.
